This choreography is born of dialogue between the dancer Kiman Chanmolyvuth and the artist Khvay Samnang, echoing the Khmer musical tradition and the “arak” rituals of possession. In this performance, Kiman Chanmolyvuth calls on arak spirits to bless the creation and opening of “Rubber Man”, Khvay Samnang’s exhibition at Jeu de Paume, Paris.
Born in 1982 in Cambodia, Kiman was trained at University of Fine Art Phnom Penh in classical dance under esteemed teachers Pen Sokhuon and Somaly Soth.
